Hench Control Corporation has created a
microprocessor based control system that is focused on saving companies money through
energy savings. The control strategies that have been developed are second to none in the
industry. Hench Control System routinely save companies between 15% and 35% on their
energy bills. While the main focus is reducing energy usage, the Hench Control System
allows operators to maintain the highest levels of plant control in an easy to use
software package. The Windows based software allows operators to make system changes by
simply pointing and clicking. The only information that has to be entered is the equipment
type and the control setpoints. The calculations for control are generated from these
setpoints. This eliminates time-consuming site programming and will ensure rapid and easy
startups.
There are separate control
modules for compressors, condensers, evaporators, ice rinks, blast freezers, wine tanks,
air compressors, ladder logic and bottling plants. The basic architecture of each control
module is the same. The control modules are differentiated by a set of EPROM's (Erasable,
Programmable, Read, Only, Memory). Each set of EPROM's has its own control strategy
preprogrammed. The individual Hench Control Modules can be linked together like building
blocks to form a complete control system. New modules can be added at any time and are
interfaced through a single communication wire.
Compressor Controllers
The purpose of the Hench
Compressor Controllers is to maintain refrigeration load requirements while operating the
compressors in the most efficient manner. Hench Control has different control modules for
compressors depending on the individual facility requirements. The determining factor
relates to the number of compressors and the number of stages in the plant.
Energy Incentives: Raising the
suction pressure by 1 psi equals 2% energy savings. Operating compressors efficiently
results in 5% to 15% energy savings.

Condenser Controllers
The Hench Condenser Controllers
maintain the discharge pressure as low as possible based on the operator entered
setpoints. The Hench Condenser Controllers can control from either Discharge Pressure or
Temperature Difference. Controlling from Temperature Difference is the most efficient.

OMNI
Controllers
The OMNI Controller is a
"combination" controller and control up to 5 compressors on 2 suction stages and
up to 8 steps of condensing on a common discharge. There is Ladder Logic programming for
miscellaneous control. The same energy saving strategies are used in this controller as
they are in the individual controllers.

Evaporator
Controllers
The primary focus is to satisfy
the Zone Temperature (established by a setpoint entered by the operator). The evaporator
controller then works on saving energy by cycling the fans on/off, controlling the defrost
cycles and the length of time that evaporator can stay in defrost mode. The evaporator
controller module reacts with the condenser controller to raise discharge pressure for Hot
Gas Defrosts.

Ladder Logic Controllers
The Hench Ladder Logic
Controllers are viewed as "OPEN" controllers. A Hench Control representative or
a facilities onsite operator is responsible for determining what the control points are
and their function. The ladder logic controllers can be used for such things as gas
detection, pump package operation, lighting controls, alarm monitoring and plant guarding.

discharge pressure to ensure plant operation and maximize energy efficiencies.

The Hench Control Ice Rink
Controller will maintain a constant ice temperature and reduce engine room equipment use.
The Hench Ice Rink Controller has the ability to have automated ice temperature settings
that can be changed up to 7 times per day, 7 days a week.
